The world’s most expensive airplane ticket:

Priced at $64,000 dollars for a one-way ticket from New York to Abu Dhabi, the Etihad Airways Residence is the world’s most expensive first-class ticket! The Etihad Airways Residence was made in 2014 as a more luxurious product for those who wanted better service than a regular first-class seat. What is Etihad Airways?

Founded in 2003, Etihad Airways is one of the youngest carriers in the Middle East and is the second flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates. With a striking gold and silver livery, Etihad Airways planes put many plane-spotters in awe upon seeing it!  However, since 2018, the airline has been suffering losses and is currently restructuring.

Luxuries of The Residence:

1: A Limousine ride to the airport!

Don’t bother taking a taxi to the airport! If you have a Residence ticket, you can arrange for a private Chauffeur to pick you up and drop you at the airport in style!

2: An amazing lounge experience

Before you even step into your airplane seat, you will be treated like royalty at the Etihad First-Class Lounge in Abu Dhabi! The lounge features a wide variety of food, a fitness room, and even a VIP room! Economy passengers may also be allowed to access this lounge with a fee of 180 USD.

3: A private butler

4: Gourmet dining onboard

Do you tend to get hungry onboard a flight and you hate airplane food? Well, then the Etihad Residence is for you! Onboard the Residence, gourmet hot meals will be served to all! Do expect some yummy Caviar with eggs! You can even eat breakfast in your airplane bed!

5: Sleep soundly onboard!

It is almost impossible to fall asleep in Economy Class due to the small amount of personal space. However, onboard the Residence, Etihad fixed this problem. If you feel sleepy, feel free to dive in head-first into your private Queen-sized soft bed!

6: Have a hot bath!

Did you know that you can actually take a shower on an airplane? Etihad Airways is one of the only airlines to include a private shower onboard all of their Residence first-class seats! Also, before you leave, you are allowed to bring home some fragrant AQUA DI PARMA products home!

The sad reality of the Etihad Residence:

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the future of the Etihad Airbus A380, the only type of airplane in the Etihad fleet that has the Residence onboard, is uncertain. If the A380s are retired from the fleet like several other carriers such as Air France and Hi Fly, it means that the luxury of the Etihad Residence will be gone forever.
