SPOTLAX’s annual plane spotting event is to be held from the Sept. 12 – 14, 2025. The event involves a rooftop spotting party held on the Friday at the H Hotel Los Angeles, although the party requires registration in advance. Last year’s SPOTLAX saw over 400 spectators attending.

Tip: bring your cameras and binoculars!

SPOTLAX first began hosting aviation enthusiasts in 2013, with the first night of the weekend beginning with an opening night rooftop spotting party. Food and drinks are available throughout the evening, alongside the opportunity to win in the annual airplane model raffle.

Tickets for the rooftop party are on sale now for $15. As noticed by previous attendees of SPOTLAX, the rooftop seems to be a perfect place for planespotting, situated in full view of Los Angeles International Airport.

If you are planning on attending SPOTLAX, or an avid aviation fan, SPOTLAX has a WhatsApp group chat you can join, so you can chat with fellow attendees before the event.

SPOTLAX schedule from previous years

Friday evening consists of the rooftop party. Saturday involves LAX Airside, where you can roam the shops at LAX, grab a bite to eat, maybe at In-N-Out at LAX and socialise with fellow attendees. Sunday concludes the weekend with doughnuts and coffee while saying goodbye to the weekend of fun. Here is last year’s schedule for those intrigued as to what the weekend could hold. This year’s schedule is not yet out, but be prepared to be close to the park by the In-N-Out at LAX from 11am. For casual plane spotting and watching, no tickets or sign up forms are necessary beforehand. Just bring yourself and get ready to mingle!
