After more than 70 days, the KC-390 Millennium has finally returned to Brazil, completing its most recent world tour as part of an extensive and challenging demonstration campaign. The campaign aimed to trial and assess the aircraft, which is to be used across a range of operations following its return.

KC-390 Millennium Overview
The KC-390 Millennium is a next-generation military transport aircraft manufactured by Brazilian-based aerospace company Embraer. After Boeing and Airbus, Embraer is the third-largest aircraft manufacturer, operating across commercial, agricultural, and defence aviation sectors globally. The aircraft, while primarily used for military operations, is a versatile aircraft that is also occasionally utilised for commercial purposes. Since it was introduced into service in 2019, the aircraft has evolved to provide more adaptable and efficient operational function, with new features such as advanced avionics and a fresh design.
According to Embraer, the KC-390 Millennium incorporates modern technological developments recognised for their efficacy, enabling high reliability and maintainability. The company has described the aircraft as possessing a rugged design devised to withstand operations from semi-prepared and even damaged runways, as well as in harsh environments and emergency situations. The demonstration campaign aimed to put the aircraft to the test across a wide range of operational scenarios.

An Extensive and Challenging Demonstration Campaign
Beginning in late January 2026, the demonstration campaign began at Singapore Airshow and proceeded to a multitude of strategic global points including Poland, Sweden, and the U.S. In total, the aircraft completed 54 flights across 11 countries according to Embraer. The last stop before home for the KC-390 Millennium was the International Air and Space Fair (FIDAE) in Chile, where the aircraft and its new livery was showcased for the first time in Latin America as part of Embraer’s presentation.
During the campaign, the aircraft operated under extreme conditions, trialling its multi-mission capabilities. Temperatures ranged from hot and humid to bitterly cold as the aircraft journeyed across continents, and Embraer reported that the aircraft functioned effectively throughout these challenges. Moreover, the demonstrations featured multiple cargo related operations, which included the transportation of containers, medical equipment, and a range of vehicles.
Embraer emphasised the success of the demonstration campaign, highlighting that the aircraft showed strong adaptability and reduced operating costs. The company claimed that the campaign reaffirmed the positioning of the aircraft as the most effective of its category.
As of April 20, 2026, the KC-390 Millennium arrived back at Embraer’s Defence headquarters in Gavião Peixoto, São Paulo, Brazil.
