Latvian airline airBaltic carried 554,700 passengers across its network in August 2026, up 5% from the same month last year. The airline operated 4,801 flights during the month, up 7.9% year on year, while its load factor stood at 83.9%.
Passenger Numbers Rise Despite Lower Load Factor
The August figures show continued growth for airBaltic, although the airline’s load factor fell by 2.3 percentage points compared with August 2025.
The decrease was primarily linked to increased capacity across the airline’s network. Despite the lower load factor, passenger numbers rose from 529,100 in August 2025 to 554,700 this year.
airBaltic also recorded growth in the number of flights operated, increasing from 4,449 in August 2025 to 4,801 in August 2026.
The airline’s performance has also remained strong across the wider year. Between January and August 2026, airBaltic carried 3.57 million passengers, a 4% increase compared with the same period last year and the airline’s highest passenger volume ever recorded for the first eight months of a year.
During the same period, the airline operated 33,220 flights, an increase of 5.7% year-on-year.
airBaltic Prepares for Summer 2027
The latest passenger figures come as airBaltic prepares to expand its network further with its Summer 2027 flight programme.
The airline will offer 57 direct destinations from Riga, 13 from Tallinn and eight from Vilnius. The schedule will continue to connect the Baltic capitals with major European destinations, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Copenhagen, London, Munich, Paris, Rome and Stockholm.
The programme is part of airBaltic’s continued focus on connectivity across Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, while supporting both business and leisure travel across the region.
