Avolon, one of the world’s leading aviation finance companies, has placed a major order for 35 Airbus A330-900s and 75 A320neos. Since Airbus’s first deliveries in 2018, global demand for these aircraft models has remained high as Airbus pushes for continuous long-term business relationships.

Avolon’s latest Airbus order
The latest firm order includes 110 new Airbus aircraft: 35 A330-900s and 75 A320neos; this brings the finance company’s total Airbus fleet to 114 A330-900s and around 650 in the A320 Family.
Airbus first launched the A330-900 in 2014 at the Farnborough Airshow and entered service in 2018, with its maiden flight the previous year. It offers improved fuel efficiency compared to Airbus’s previous models. Airbus advertises it as having a 12% fuel-burn advantage per flight over the older A330 variants.
Airbus’s A320neo, like the A330-900 and the rest of the NEO family, is a narrow-body aircraft designed for greater fuel efficiency and improved aerodynamics. The NEO made its maiden flight in 2014 and, when it entered service, achieved a 20% efficiency gain per passenger with up to 180 seats, along with reduced noise and CO₂ emissions, according to Lufthansa.
Avolon appears to be retiring older aircraft to make way for newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft with innovative technology, according to Reuters.
Andy Cronin, Avolon CEO, stated
“We continue to see strong demand for new aircraft, and this order further strengthens our long-term delivery pipeline. This positions us to support our airline customers’ fleet growth and replacement requirements well into the next decade. We expect demand for both the A330neo and A320neo to remain strong given the long-term growth trajectory of the aviation sector, and we are delighted to further expand our longstanding partnership with Airbus through this agreement.”

Airbus’s expansion on partnerships
In 2026, Airbus delivered 547 aircraft to 84 customers, with 72 deliveries made in September alone.
“With this acquisition, Avolon confirms its position as the leading lessor for the A330-900, having purchased 114 of the type from Airbus. It is also another demonstration of the strong demand for the A330neo and A320neo from the lessor community, who clearly value the broad market appeal and flexibility these two products offer in the market space from domestic to regional to long-haul routes.”
Demand for Airbus aircraft is increasing, according to Airbus data, as partnerships expand and deliveries increase.
