Alaska Airlines has introduced its first-ever lie-flat business-class cabin in its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, flights from Seattle to Rome and London. These become the airline’s premium seats, replacing its first-class recliner seats.

The business-class cabins come with privacy doors, direct aisle access and are fitted in a 1-2-1 configuration. Features include upgraded 18-inch HD entertainment screens, wireless charging ports, power outlets and noise-reducing headsets.
Passengers will sleep well with the “premium bedding” setup, which includes a “plush” mattress pad, a pillow, a lumbar/lounging pillow, and an oversized duvet.
Alaska Airlines will also provide amenity kits designed in collaboration with Seattle-based Filson. The amenity kit includes Salt & Stone skincare products and “other travel essentials”.
All these features have been retrofitted to Dreamliner aircraft acquired in the 2024 merger with Hawaiian Airlines and will also be included in newly ordered Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircrafts.
Food in the Alaska business-class cabin
The airline confirmed that they will provide “restaurant-quality food”, a multi-course meal featuring the flavours of the West Coast and the global destinations Alaska serves, such as Rome and London.
Alaska Airlines released a statement:
“The experience begins with a sophisticated welcome service featuring a cheese and charcuterie board — a refined interpretation of Alaska’s iconic Signature Fruit & Cheese Platter — paired with an expanded selection of wines from the West Coast and regions in Europe such as Stag’s Leap, including Roederer Champagne, handcrafted cocktails, West Coast craft beer, mineral water and freshly brewed Stumptown coffee.”
A U.S.-based airline has planned to tailor the six entrée choices based on the route, following an appetiser course. The entrée options may include pollo ripieno, a traditional stuffed chicken, on flights to Rome and gochujang chicken with traditional banchan on flights en route to Incheon.
The new nonstop flights from Seattle to Rome and London start on April 28 and May 21, respectively. The start date of the flight to Incheon is yet to be announced.
