Spring break is shaping up to be the busiest ever for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines as the combined carriers’ global and domestic network continues to expand with more seats, destinations and opportunities for adventure and extraordinary travel experiences.

New routes and more seats expand spring break options

The iconic American spring break is a one- to-two-week academic vacation period that begins in March or April. Students, normally those studying at university, take this time to travel to warm-weather or snow-capped mountainous destinations.

This March and April, Alaska and Hawaiian’s guests can choose from more than 25 new or recently launched routes, enjoying ample options for getaways of all kinds. The new and expanded markets this spring season include:

  • Santa Rosa, California to Palm Springs, California, USA.
  • Spokane, Washington to Orange County, California, USA.
  • San Francisco, California to Līhuʻe, Kauaʻi and Kona, Hawaii Island.
  • Seattle, Washington to Tokyo (Narita), Japan and Seoul, South Korea.

Largest spring break schedule in the two carrier’s history

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are operating more than 12 million seats across March and April, making this the largest spring break schedule in their history.

The combined carriers are also expanding their San Diego service for spring break with more than 30% more flights and 10 new nonstop routes. It will also operate 31 additional flights between Hawaii and the continental U.S. from March 14 to 22, a 6% increase over last year.

The airlines’ capacity increases are especially notable in several West Coast markets. Travellers from Boise, Idaho, will have access to double the number of seats to Southern California this spring, including increased services to Palm Springs.

In Santa Rosa, California, passengers can fly nonstop to two new in-state destinations, Ontario and Palm Springs, along with added frequencies to Portland, Oregon, San Diego and Burbank, California.

Other spring break routes that have been improved and expanded include:

  • Late-season ski getaways to Denver, Colorado, Salt Lake City, Utah, or Sun Valley, Idaho.
  • Sunny desert escapes to Phoenix, Arizona and Palm Springs, California.
  • Beloved beach destinations like Līhuʻe, Kauaʻi and Kona, Hawaii Island.

Moreover, the airlines are seeing strong demand across Hawaii, the U.S. continent and key international markets. This includes:

  • Honolulu, Oʻahu; Līhuʻe, Kauaʻi; Kahului, Maui; Kona, Hawaii Island; and Miami, Florida.
  • Top international destinations such as San José and Liberia, Costa Rica, along with Belize City, Belize.
