Zimex Aviation took delivery of its first De Havilland Canada-6-300-G, becoming the first European operator of the type as well as the second worldwide. This is the first of the modernised version of the famous Twin Otter aircraft.

This new delivery marks a new entry for upgraded turboprop in operational services. The delivery is a significant milestone for the operator as the aircraft is the newest evolution of the Twin Otter family to enter commercial use. The C-FHEX was ferried from Calgary via Saskatoon, Iqualuit and Reykjavik Domestic to Altenrhein over June 16-18, 2026.
The Chief Executive Officer Danielle Cereghetti stated:
“We can confidently say that Twin Otter aircraft have been the backbone of our business for the last 56 years. We are delighted to welcome this aircraft into our fleet and look forward to deploying it across our global operations. The Twin Otter remains an essential aircraft for the demanding missions we perform every day.”
The Swiss operator is planning in the future to add two DHC-6-300-Gs to its fleet. Zimex Aviaiton was previously the launch operator of the Twin Otter type, and aimed to take the first aircraft already in late 2025. However, Ethiopian Airlines took the first unit just days before the delivery to Zimex.

The DHC Twin Otter has built a global reputation for how short its takeoffs are and its landing capabilities. This makes it one of the most versatile aircraft to be built in modern time. It is widely for operations in remote regions, including humanitarian missions and cargo transport to destinations hard to reach.
The new 300G is a modernised upgrade of the classic DHC-6-300 model. It is designed to enhance reliability and efficiency whilst maintaining its well known capabilities.
The Swiss airline’s fleet compromises 15 other aircraft, that include one ATR42-500, two ATR7200(F)s, 11 DHC 6-300s and one DHC 6-400.
