Low-cost carrier Ryanair has announced an expanded Winter 2025 schedule from Cornwall Airport Newquay (NQY), offering 2,300 additional seats over the Christmas period.
The airline will operate four key routes this season, Alicante, Malaga, Dublin and London Stansted, catering to both leisure and business travellers.

Ryanair Expands Winter Operations at Cornwall Airport
Ryanair‘s expansion represents a 10% increase in capacity on the Alicante, Malaga and Dublin routes.
With fares starting from £29.99 one way, the move aims to make winter travel more affordable while driving inbound tourism to Cornwall during the quieter months.
“Our goal is to drive traffic and tourism to Cornwall during the off-peak winter season,” said Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson.

Ryanair Pushes for UK Aviation Tax Reform
At the launch event, Wilson highlighted the airline’s commitment to strengthening its UK network.
“We’ve added extra capacity for Christmas week, ensuring plenty of low-fare choice for our Cornwall customers,” Wilson said.
Wilson also urged the UK government to abolish Air Passenger Duty (APD), calling it a barrier to growth.
“Countries across Europe are eliminating aviation taxes and being regarded with rapid growth in tourism and jobs. Rachel Reeves should follow this model to make UK air travel competitive again, especially for regional airports like Cornwall,” he stated.

Boost for Local Economy and Year-Round Connectivity
Amy Smith, Managing Director at Cornwall Airport Newquay, welcomed Ryanair’s expansion, calling it “fantastic news for the region.”
She said the additional capacity “strengthens year-round connectivity, supports local employment and boosts inbound tourism.”
Smith added that Ryanair’s confidence in Newquay lays the groundwork for future route development and new markets.
“This sustained investment benefits residents, businesses and visitors alike,” she said.
