With the holiday season upon us, colder weather is impending. If you’re seeking a warmer climate, ITA Airways has you covered. Joining other European airlines who have added intercontinental destinations to their Winter schedule, Italy has announced new non-stop flights. Italy’s flag carrier airline has recently started operating non-stop flights from Rome Fiumicino to Dubai and Bangkok.

Celebrating the New Routes

On October 28, ITA Airways operated its inaugural non-stop flight from Rome Fiumicino to Dubai. The flight is serviced by an Airbus A321neo. Not soon after, on November 19, the airline also commenced its first direct flight to Thailand. This new route, a first for the Italian airline, is serviced by an Airbus A330neo.

To celebrate the new direct services, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at DXB arrivals and the arrival gate of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport respectively. The launch of the flight route to Dubai will operate on a daily basis. It is expected to increase connectivity between Italy and the UAE. The non-stop connection between the two major international hubs of Rome and Dubai carries the prospect of economic growth with it. The route will hopefully enhance tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange. Similarly, the new Rome to Bangkok connection will connect the two capitals for matters of both business and leisure. Unlike the daily route service between Dubai and Rome however, the route between Bangkok and Rome will only operate with five weekly frequencies.

Strategic Growth Plans for ITA Airways

The two new non-stop services underpin ITA Airways’ strategic growth plans, expanding its network in the Middle East and Asia. The new connections will allow the airline to gain further traction in the competitive commercial aviation market. In a press release to mark the Rome-Dubai connection in October, Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commerical Officer of ITA Airways and CEO of its loyalty program, Volare made a statement:

We are delighted to inaugurate our nonstop service between Dubai and Rome Fiumicino. As the first major addition to our winter schedule, this new daily route will enhance tourism and trade between Italy and the United Arab Emirates, a strategic market not only for point-to-point travel but also for connecting to other domestic, international, and intercontinental destinations via our Fiumicino hub, combining leisure and business travel. This new flight strengthens our presence in the Middle East, complementing our nonstop services to Riyadh and Jeddah, launched earlier this summer

Further celebrations at Bangkok airport voiced the same prospects for the Airways’ expansion in Asia as Limosani announced:

We are proud to inaugurate our new nonstop Bangkok – Rome flight, the only direct connection between the two capitals, enhancing our commercial strategy to develop ITA Airways’ intercontinental network.
