American Airlines Unveils Six New International Routes for Summer 2026

American Airlines is planning to launch six new international routes to Europe and South America for the 2026 summer.

Expanding Transatlantic and South American Reach

American Airlines announced six new routes to Europe and South America in summer 2026, including service to Prague, Budapest, Athens, Milan, and Zurich.

Notably, the airline is expected to offer a record 18 daily flights from the US to Italy and Greece next summer. The airline is also expanding service to Buenos Aires.

Tickets for the newly launched summer routes will be available for purchase starting on Aug 11.

Six New International Routes: Details and Aircraft Information

  1. The new routes are expected to fly from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Miami (MIA), and Philadelphia (PHL) to multiple destinations.
  2. The new routes from DFW could bring travellers to Athens, Buenos Aires, and Zurich.
  3. The flight to Athens, Greece, will start running as summer seasonal service on May 21, 2026, with the Boeing 787-8.
  4. The flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE), is also expected to operate with Boeing 787-8, will offer service from May 21 to Aug 3, 2026.
  5. The flight to Zurich (ZRH) will operate with Boeing 777-200, will provide summer seasonal service from May 21 to Aug 4, 2026.
  6. The flight from Miami (MIA) to Milan (MXP) will start a year-round service from Mar 29, 2026, and operate with Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
  7. The flights from Philadelphia (PHL) to Budapest, Hungary (BUD), and Prague (PRG) are expected to begin their summer seasonal service from May 21 2026, with the Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning Brian Znotins said:

”Customers continue to tell us that Europe is where they want to go each summer, and these new routes make it even easier to cross the Atlantic in 2026. We are excited to grow our network to new destinations like Prague and Budapest and offer even more premium travel experiences on our flights to Tokyo.”
