A Brussels Airlines Airbus A330-200, registration OO-SFU performing flight SN-515 from Brussels (Belgium) to Washington Dulles, DC (USA) with 155 passengers, was en route at FL360 about 50nm south of Birmingham, EN (UK) when the Fuel Metering Unit for the left-hand engine (PW4168) developed a fault. The crew reduced the engine to idle, drifted down to FL220 and returned to Brussels for a safe landing on runway 25L about 75 minutes after the turnaround.

The airline reported an engine fuel control computer failed.
