Delta Air Lines has unveiled ambitious plans to expand and elevate its airport lounge network in 2024. The airline will debut a new premium tier of lounges in three major cities while growing its Sky Club footprint. 2024 looks to be a milestone year for enhancing the airport experience for Delta’s premium customers.
Delta Premium Lounges Plan
In early February, Delta, the highest-rated domestic airline in the US according to Bounce, announced plans to debut its new premium lounge concept this year, providing an elevated experience for customers. The first premium tier of lounges will open at New York’s JFK airport in the summer. This flagship location will span 38,000 square feet making it the largest premium lounge in Delta’s network. The JFK lounge will feature both a full-service brasserie and a casual marketplace concept with open kitchens.
Los Angeles and Boston will also receive premium lounges. These strategically located lounges will offer amenities beyond what is found in the Sky Club network. The airline aims to provide highly personalized service styles similar to those of luxury hotels. Customers can expect dedicated wellness spaces and a focus on healthy, refreshed travel. Claude Roussel, Vice President of Sky Club and Lounge Experience at Delta, emphasized the point by saying:
“We want each of our guests to receive a highly personalized and dedicated level of service. It’s not enough to have beautiful spaces and exceptional offerings. Premium lounge customers should feel welcomed and known when they walk in the door, just as they would at their favorite hotel or restaurant. We look forward to providing that warm welcome and making ‘premium’ feel personal for each guest.”
While access details are still in development, the goal is to make customers feel known and welcomed from the moment they arrive. With the addition of this new premium tier of lounges, Delta looks to set a new standard in airport experiences.
Expanding Sky Club Network
Delta will also grow its Sky Club footprint in 2024. The Sky Club at New York’s LaGuardia Airport will see an expansion, adding over 100 new seats. Travelers will be able to enjoy a new Sky Deck area with views of the airfield. Miami International Airport is also getting a larger Sky Club, with the updated location boasting 12,000 square feet of space for 320 guests.
New Clubs will debut in Charlotte and Seattle. The 21,000-square-foot Sky Club in Seattle will provide a welcome oasis for Delta flyers. Those travelling through Charlotte will gain access to the airline’s very first Sky Club in that city.
Premium Lounge Openings
Delta has provided anticipated opening timelines for the new premium lounges. The highly anticipated JFK location will welcome passengers starting in the summer of 2024. Flyers at Los Angeles and Boston will gain access to premium experiences later in the year, with both lounges debuting in the fourth quarter of 2024. By continuing to invest in airport experiences, the airline looks to set the standard for service in the skies.
