Last year, the newest airline subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group was announced-Lufthansa City Airlines. Recently, there have been a few updates as the airline will start to operate soon, with the announcement of the launch of flight operations in June. Lufthansa’s most recent program had scheduled flights to a few European destinations; one of the elected cities is in the United Kingdom.
Lufthansa City Airlines – The Promising Journey
Lufthansa City Airlines, a new airline of Lufthansa Group, is starting its flight operations with the first route between Munich (Germany) and Birmingham(England). That’s great news for residents of the West Midlands as they will have the opportunity to fly from Lufthansa City Airlines for the first time to Munich in Germany.
Additionally, Lufthansa City Airlines is set to begin to operate flights from Munich, their main hub, to destinations in the country such as Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Bremen, Hanover, and Cologne. International destinations are also on their list, mainly two English destinations, Birmingham and Manchester, as well as Bordeaux in France. Initially, the flights will be operating using Airbus A319s, and in the future, aims to start using Airbus A220-300s.
Jens Fehlinger, Lufthansa City Airlines Managing Director Operations, explained about the airline:
“Lufthansa City Airlines is contributing to the future viability of the hubs in Munich and Frankfurt. We look forward to new modern Airbus A220 and A320neo deliveries in the coming years. For our guests and employees, we are driving our renewal and thus strengthening Lufthansa’s planned growth in long-haul traffic”
According to Lufthansa’s previous financial performance and record results in the second quarter of 2023, it is clear that Lufthansa exceeded its performance targets, which showcases the company’s success and its gradual growth of the company. The new investment for Lufthansa City Airlines will prosper the growth of the Lufthansa Group and the airline’s future achievements.
Travelers can now book their flights from April 24 on Lufthansa City Official Website. The expansion of routes is currently being developed. Furthermore, Lufthansa City Airlines will continue adding destinations to Europe, expanding the routes gradually. Lufthansa explained that booking the presented routes under flight numbers with the new airline code “VL” will also be available through the usual Lufthansa Group sales channels.
