Moreover, the airline has also managed to reduce onboard waste by approximately 20% through improved recycling efforts.

These achievements indicate Cathay Pacific’s preparation for development with sustainability ambitions leading the path forward.

The CEO Ronald Lam, stated that:

Sustainability is an area we aspire to lead and remains at the forefront as we shape our path forward in life. Doing so in a sustainable and responsible manner requires collective efforts. Empowering Societies and Communities Through Increased Sustainability Efforts

Cathay Pacific’s 2024 sustainability efforts go beyond the skies, embracing sustainability into its social fabric. To raise eco-awareness, the report highlights activities such as conservation projects led by employees and relationships with local Hong Kong communities. Cathay Pacific supports community engagement programs, by connecting communities with arts and culture, Cathay contributes to a vibrant cultural landscape with a lasting impact.

Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of Cathay Pacific, reflected on the importance of communities:

Deeply rooted in Hong Kong, the airline is committed to improving the community with a main focus on youth development. We are particularly excited to bring back our flagship I Can Fly program on its 20th anniversary. Through different youth-centric programmes which are well supported by our Cathay Volunteer Team, we are on the way towards nurturing future leaders for the Hong Kong aviation industry and making a difference in our society.
