Air Europa has expanded its short-haul network from Madrid with the launch of new domestic flights to Oviedo and Seville, while also increasing frequencies on two key routes to Italy.

The carrier said it has begun operating two flights a day from Madrid to both Oviedo and Seville, using Boeing 737 aircraft. Air Europa said it expects to operate more than 850 flights on each of the two new routes during 2026, representing more than 153,000 seats in each market across the year.

Air Europa is also deepening its push in Italy. The airline said it has increased service from Madrid to Rome’s Fiumicino Airport and Milan’s Malpensa Airport to three daily flights on a “stable” basis and that it serves both routes using Boeing 737-800s. The carrier described the extra frequency as an improvement for customers planning trips in either direction and said the stronger Italy schedule is designed to support faster connections through its hub at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport to the airline’s long-haul network.

Looking ahead, Air Europa said its Italy offering will be reinforced again in August with the launch of a new route to Bologna, adding another city to its growing Italy portfolio.

The airline also used the network update to highlight service upgrades under its “Air Europa ON” programme. Air Europa said improvements already being rolled out include stronger satellite Wi-Fi connectivity, new amenities and updates to onboard service elements, including changes in its business-class offering. For medium-haul routes such as Italy, Air Europa said its business-class customers will also see a refreshed gastronomy concept carrying the name of chef Mario Sandoval.

Air Europa describes itself as a Spanish airline operating since 1986 and a member of the SkyTeam alliance. The company says it flies to more than 55 destinations worldwide and is positioned at Madrid-Barajas to connect Europe and the Americas.
