British Airways’ (BA) transatlantic operations have resumed from Gatwick, with a trip to Tampa to kick off a three-times-week schedule to the Florida resort.

On November 19, British Airways will resume flights from Gatwick to Orlando, a favourite family vacation destination. Since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic in March 2020, this is the first time the airline has flown to these destinations, as well as to the United States, from Gatwick.

With 246 flights per week beginning in January, the airline plans to fly to 23 US airports this winter, more than any other transatlantic carrier. Flights to Nashville and New Orleans, as well as Tampa and Orlando, will resume in December from Gatwick.

The airline’s A380s will return to the United States, with flights to Miami, Los Angeles, and Dallas starting on December 5, December 9, and March 27, respectively, from Heathrow.

“Orlando and Tampa are among our most popular locations, so we know how much our clients are looking forward to returning,” said Claire Bentley, Managing Director of British Airways Holidays.

“Because Florida is such a diverse state, there’s something for everyone, whether it’s a calm beach vacation, a theme park excursion, or an adventurous road trip. Furthermore, we have a variety of British Airways Holidays offers to fit any budget.” Bentley adds.

British Airways’ BA001 service to JFK airport was the airline’s first flight to the United States after restrictions were lifted on November 8. After more than 600 days of closed borders, customers were greeted with a New York-style welcome when they arrived in the Big Apple to reunite with friends and family.

The airline now has seven flights per day to New York, which will increase to eight by mid-December.
