An Air New Zealand 777-200ER was performing flight NZ101 from Auckland to Sydney before it returned midflight. Air New Zealand confirmed that the crew decided to return to Auckland due to the windshield heating system that was not working correctly.

The aircraft touched down in Auckland around 90 minutes after departure. The passengers were accommodated on other flights.
