A General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc.  MQ-9B  took off from the Grand Forks Air Park located on the grounds of the Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, ND late Tuesday afternoon. This trip will mark the first time an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) also called a drone, has attempted a trans-Atlantic voyage. The company says this mission will be used to demonstrate the advanced technologies that allow it to fly amongst commercial, civil and military aircraft enroute to its destination. The aircraft is flying to Gloucestershire, England, where the Royal Air Force is holding its centennial celebration. The trip will span more than 3,000 miles.
