Safran expands in the UK:

Safran, a civil and military aviation parts manufacturer acquired the Collins Aerospace in mi-2025 which is the start of them in the UK.

After the acquisition, they become the third largest civil aerospace player in the UK with more than 5,500 employees across 14 sites and annual revenue of £1.5 billion.

Apart from the new R&T, they have also been covering design, engineering, value chain and manufacturing through to maintenance and MRO services.

In the UK sites, they have been manufacturing civil and military aviation products like aircraft landing gear, seats, actuators and flight controls, nacelles, helicopter engines, and electrical equipment.

Olivier Andries, Chief Executive Officer of Safran, said,

“Launching Safran Tech UK, our first research entity outside France, reflects our ambition to make the United Kingdom a catalyst for innovation for the decarbonization of aviation. As the UK’s third-largest civil aerospace player, we’re proud to contribute to the vitality of the country’s industry and research ecosystem.”

Research and Technology:

Safran Tech UK, the R&T entity promises to impose the new technologies in the UK based R&T. They are

  • Electrification of propulsion and actuation systems for next-generation aircraft.
  • High-performance composite materials.

They believe they can increase the standards of UK’s rich and dynamic innovation ecosystem to address the sector’s key challenges like decarbonisation of aviation, which accounts for 75% of the groups’ R&T investment.
