Piedmont E145 at Williamsport Rejected Takeoff Due to Deer Strike

A Piedmont Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N906AE performing flight PD-4952/AA-4952 from Williamsport, PA to Philadelphia, PA (USA) with 43 passengers and 3 crew, was accelerating for takeoff from Williamsport’s Lycoming County Airport when the crew rejected takeoff after the aircraft struck a deer on the runway. The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron.

The flight was cancelled.

The airport reported the aircraft sustained minor damage but needed a thorough check after a striking a deer on the runway. The deer likely had jumped the airport perimeter fence and did not survive the contact with the aircraft.
