MRO Agreement

IndiGo appointed Lufthansa Technik to deliver comprehensive lease return support as part of a long-term agreement covering maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. This agreement oversees base maintenance and single-component maintenance services for a large number of Airbus A320 aircraft in the airline’s fleet.

Lufthansa Technik currently intends to provide Base Maintenance Services to two locations of its global network, namely Lufthansa Technik Sofia and Lufthansa Technik Philippines. This also covers single-component maintenance support at Lufthansa Technik’s Hamburg facility. The company said that this arrangement is intended to provide IndiGo with optimal flexibility, comprehensive support, and high operational availability.

IndiGo has various aircraft, some of which include hundreds of A320s and A321s, and the airline relies on Lufthansa Technik to provide support to its growing fleet of aircraft. The airline’s fleet is expected to grow even more in the upcoming years, considering nearly one new aircraft joins its fleet every week.

Lease return services

Wet- and damp-leased aircraft will remain an important part of IndiGo’s operations, reflecting the airline’s focus on maintaining flexibility and optimising its fleet. To support this approach, IndiGo counts on Lufthansa Technik as a dependable partner with a strong track record in delivering efficient aircraft lease return services to various clients over the years.

Parichay Datta, senior vice president of engineering and maintenance at IndiGo, stated that the airline has been prioritising leased aircraft, which have played a vital role in addressing growing demand and sustaining its competitive market presence.

Johanna Koch, vice president of corporate sales for Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent at Lufthansa Technik, remarked that IndiGo’s rapid growth and dynamic fleet management present distinct operational challenges. She expressed enthusiasm about supporting the airline through Lufthansa Technik’s global network, technical know-how, and dependable turnaround services. Koch also said the contracts further strengthened the long-standing partnership between Lufthansa Technik and IndiGo. This partnership also reflects IndiGo’s confidence in Lufthansa Technik as a trusted MRO provider.
