Fiji Airways has announced the launch of a new codeshare partnership with WestJet. The agreement will improve access to destinations across Canada, Fiji, and the South Pacific, and support Fiji Airways’ growing North American presence.

Three Weekly Services from June

Through the agreement, Fiji Airways will place its “FJ” code on WestJet’s domestic network, including Calgary, Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Halifax. In turn, WestJet will place its “WS” code on Fiji’s Vancouver to Nadi flights through to destinations across New Zealand, like Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.

The collaboration is further strengthened by Fiji Airways’ expanded Vancouver operations. From June 18, 2026, the airline will operate three weekly year-round services between Nadi and Vancouver on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Additionally, from Sept. 8, the Airbus A350 will take over all Vancouver services, increasing capacity for customers.

Growth in Demand for Flights to the South Pacific

Paul Scurrah, managing director and CEO of Fiji Airways, said the partnership marks an important step in maintaining Fiji’s global connectivity.

“Canada represents a growing and high-value market for Fiji and the wider Pacific. This partnership with WestJet makes it easier than ever for Canadian travellers to experience the warmth, culture and natural beauty of Fiji,” he stated.

Connections between Canada and Fiji have been evident over some time, as shown by the celebrated opening of the Canadian High Commission in the heart of Fiji’s capital city, Suva. Having opened this January, the commission focuses on building economic partnerships and shares Fiji’s mission of climate resiliency.

Jennifer Lalonde, High Commissioner of Canada to Fiji, said:

“Improved connectivity will make it easier for Canadians to experience the South Pacific; while supporting tourism, trade and people-to-people links that are so important to our relationship.”

Passengers can enjoy a single booking, check-in, and through-checked baggage on flights by either airline. WestJet guests will also be able to earn and redeem points on journeys coded with these carriers. According to WestJet, passenger demand between Canada and Fiji has grown 19% year-over-year.

This news follows Fiji Airways recently expanding its international network through a new codeshare with British Airways.
