Cathay Cargo has upgraded its booking system, giving customers direct control over their bookings. This system, called Manage Booking, is available 24/7 on their online platform. The update has been made to allow for instant changes post-booking rather than needing to follow up with the company.

While this can be the case for many of Cathay Cargo’s bookings, it is still supporting the larger requests with specialists in the field. The move to Manage Booking is part of the company’s push towards digitalisation.

The Manage Booking process

The design of Manage Booking looks to address forwarder operational issues by issuing updates as they happen on the website, providing tracking access to customers through the process of shipments. Cathay Cargo has centralised the information to appear on a single dashboard.

The website has other features, with a preview option to show how any updates to a booking will change the booking status and cost before confirmation of the booking. Another feature it has launched with Manage Booking is activity tracking via automated notifications to keep its clients informed.

Recent digital initiatives

The director of Cathay Cargo, Dominic Perret, stated:

“As the air cargo industry evolves, we are committed to leading that transformation by keeping our customers at the centre of every innovation. Digital solutions like Manage Booking are about making it easier for freight forwarders to work with us, giving them the control and transparency they need to operate with confidence.”

Cathay Cargo has brought out many digital initiatives recently, one of which is its IATA ONE Record protocol, using Cathay Expert’s intelligent tools to decrease the amount of planning time for the company’s workflows. It has also created Cargo Connect, an app to digitise operations such as workflows, checklists, flight lists and floating checklists that were previously paper-based.
