Two new British Airways routes took off on Monday, April 20, marking the airline’s latest network expansion from London Heathrow (LHR) to St. Louis (STL) and Guernsey (GCI). The inaugural transatlantic service to St. Louis makes it the airline’s 27th destination in the United States, while the Guernsey route restores a direct Heathrow link to the Channel Islands.

St. Louis Joins Transatlantic Network

The new St. Louis service operates four times weekly from Terminal 5 at LHR, using a Boeing 787. Flight BA221 departs at 4:25 p.m., arriving in STL at 7:30 p.m., while return services leave in the evening and land the following morning.

British Airways said it is the only U.K. carrier offering a direct route to St. Louis. The launch coincides with the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and upcoming U.S. celebrations marking 250 years of independence.

In a light-hearted touch, the inaugural flight was crewed entirely by staff named Louis, Lewis or Louise.

Guernsey Gains Year-Round Heathrow Link

The airline has also introduced a daily service between LHR and GCI, operating with Airbus A319 and A320neo aircraft. Flight BA1344 departs Heathrow at 11:55 a.m., arriving in Guernsey at 12:55 p.m., with the return service leaving at 1:45 p.m.

British Airways said the route is now the only direct connection between Guernsey and Heathrow. The first flight featured crew with personal ties to the island, and passengers were served a traditional Guernsey dessert on board.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ chief planning and strategy officer, said:

“It’s always a proud moment when we see a new route take to the skies, after months of careful planning. These two new destinations offer our customers even more choice.”

The carrier is continuing its summer expansion with a new seasonal route to Tivat (TIV) in Montenegro. Flights from LHR Terminal 3 will begin on May 14, 2026, operating three times a week.
