Flight Attendant Survives

Solange is a flight attendant that was working on the Air Canada flight, operated by Jazz Aviation, that collided with a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport. The accident took place on March 23, 2026, roughly 40 people were hospitalised, including Solange.

Sarah Lépine, Solange’s daughter, has called her mother’s survival “a complete miracle”. When the collision occurred, the crash survivor was strapped in her seat, and was ejected from the aircraft landing more than 100 meters away.

Lépine has also commented on her mother’s injuries. Solange was directed to the hospital for a broken leg surgery, she also sustained multiple bone fractures. The flight attendant has been working with Jazz Aviation for more than 25 years.

Details of the Collision

The Air Canada Express Flight 8646 collided with a fire truck around 11:45 p.m. on LaGuardia’s runway 4. The accident led to several injuries and the passing of both pilots. Authorities are further exploring what led to the crash through analysing radio failures and/or human errors.

The fire truck involved had been dispatched to assist a United flight where the flight crew were feeling ill due to strong odours in the cabin. As the Air Canada aircraft was landing, the vehicle was crossing the runway, which led to the collision. The Air Traffic Control had urged the fire truck to stop after it was cleared the cross the runway.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTBS) has investigated the site, collecting evidence and data. It’s expected that the investigation will take a year to be finalised, as all of the information must be carefully assessed.

Travel Radar wishes Solange and others injured in the accident a speedy recovery.
