On Wednesday, Feb. 18, a 22-year-old pilot from North Yorkshire died after a light aircraft crash, police have confirmed, which happened at the Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park at 12:20 p.m. The plane was seen to have crashed into a sculpture at the park, and was seen to be the only person occupied in the aircraft when it had plunged into the park.

Pilot’s plane nosedived in popular tourist park in North Yorkshire
The emergency services were called to the park in Grewlthorpe, near Masham, on Wednesday. The pilot was found in his aircraft and rushed off to the hospital once discovered, however, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on Thursday evening. The white plane was seen crumpled up into a tree from a supposed nosedive into the ground, leading the cockpit to be destroyed. North Yorkshire Himalayan Garden and sculpture Park is popular among its residents and tourists, thankfully no one else was hurt in the incident.
This has not been the first light crash in North Yorkshire, as last year in November, a man in his 70s died from a light plane crash at Sherburn Aero Club. The pilot had occupied a privately owned plane. As there are not many details about the cause of the recent plane crash, authorities are calling upon the aid of the general public.

Police call on the general public for help on investigation
The North Yorkshire Police have confirmed that the plane had departed from Sherburn in Elmet, near Selby. For anyone who had witnessed the incident, the police are urging anyone with footage of the crash to contact them. An Inspector from the Police force Matt Wilkinson, stated:
“Despite the best efforts of emergency service responders at the scene, and hospital staff, the pilot has tragically passed away.”
He goes on to add:
“We are now conducting a parallel investigation with the Air Accident Investigation Branch, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The bereaved families have been notified and are getting as much support from specially trained officers.
