American Airlines chooses CFM international engines for future A321Neo deliveries, strengthening their multi decade partnership for AA’s narrow body fleet.
American Airlines Chooses the CFM LEAP-1A engine
America Airlines and CFM international continue their multi-decade partnership by delivering CFM LEAP-1A engines to power their Airbus A321neo fleet which will join the airline in March.
CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines, will continue to power American Airlines’ narrow body fleet for years to come.
American Airlines chose CFM LEAP-1B engines in 2011 to power their Boeing 737-MAX aircraft fleet which operates 93 to this day and an additional 125 on order.
American Airlines has the youngest fleet of U.S carriers. The airline have the option to purchase an additional 116 A320’s, which will be outfitted with the CFM LEAP-1A if exercised.

CFM Leap Engines Chosen Due to Excellent Capacity
CFM LEAP engines have sought the fastest catalyst within the commercial aviation industry due to their excellent performance and reliability within aircraft structure.
The leap engines offered by CFM International are optimised to be 15% more fuel efficient by including composite fan blades and ceramic matrix composites. They also feature advanced health monitoring systems to provide the most reliable experience for American Airlines narrowbody aircraft.
