About GOL Airlines

GOL, established in the year 2000, is one of the biggest names in Brazilian Aviation. They began their operations in 2001 and aimed to change low-cost flights in the country. It’s controlled by the UK’s Abra Group, alongside the Colombian carrier Avianca.

GOL’s fleet operates strictly with Boeing B737s. The carrier operates with 123 passenger aircraft, where the B737-700 is the smallest, carrying 138 seats. The B737-800 and B737-8 MAX seat the same amount, 186 passengers. However, the B737-8 MAX has a longer range, reaching 6,704 km.

The carrier operates domestically and throughout South, North America, and the Caribbean. Inside the country, GOL flies to 80 destinations, including all the major cities, such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Internationally, Miami, Buenos Aires, and Lima are some of the destinations.

GOL’s Paraguay – US Route

The new Paraguay – U.S. service is expected to begin operating some time around June 2026. The flights will be scheduled four times per week, connecting Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU) with Miami International (MIA), making this the seventh freedom route.

In the beginning of 2026, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved a direct route between Paraguay and the United States. GOL is now responsible for the only direct service linking these nations.

This new service will set records in the aviation sector. The flight will reach a distance of 6,154 km, establishing it as B737 MAX longest ever flight. It’s estimated that the duration of the service will be around eight hours, classifying it as an ultra-long-haul.

What do you think about this new service? Have you ever flown with GOL Airlines? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
