Air Charter Scotland will launch year-round flights between Wick (WIC) and Glasgow (GLA) from Aug. 15, 2026, while continuing its existing Public Service Obligation (PSO) service between Wick and Aberdeen (ABZ). The airline will operate three weekly return services between Wick and Glasgow alongside weekly return flights to Aberdeen, using 18-seat BAe Jetstream 32 aircraft operated by AIS Airlines.
Air Charter Scotland Expands Wick Network
The new Glasgow service is part of a year-long PSO contract awarded to Air Charter Scotland following a competitive tender process led by The Highland Council. The contract will run from Aug. 15, 2026, to Aug. 14, 2027.
The Wick–Glasgow route will provide a new link between Caithness and Scotland’s Central Belt, supporting access to business, healthcare, tourism and onward travel. Air Charter Scotland will also continue operating the essential Wick–Aberdeen connection.
The airline took over the Wick–Aberdeen route in January 2026 and has carried approximately 1,800 passengers since then. The service initially operated with a King Air 200 before Air Charter Scotland partnered with AIS Airlines.
Derek Thomson, COO of Air Charter Scotland, said the company had focused on delivering a reliable service and rebuilding passenger confidence since taking over the route.
New Wick–Glasgow Flights to Operate Three Times Weekly
The new network will include direct Wick–Glasgow flights as well as services operating via Aberdeen. Flights will operate from Monday to Saturday, with no scheduled service on Sunday.
The schedule includes a direct Wick–Glasgow service on Wednesday, while Monday and Friday services will operate via Aberdeen. Weekly Wick–Aberdeen flights will also continue.
The Highland Council said the Glasgow connection had been a long-standing aspiration for the region and could create new opportunities for businesses, healthcare and tourism.
The company also said it is exploring potential future aircraft types for its scheduled operations and is already in discussions with regional aircraft lessors and manufacturers.
