On Tuesday, July 21, 10 people were involved in a midair fight on an easyJet flight headed to Liverpool, UK, from Tenerife, Spain. The captain was forced to divert back to the departing city as the fight posed a security threat to the other passengers.

The Incident

According to air traffic control, the easyJet flight that left from Tenerife returned to the departing destination only 30 minutes after taking off. The captain was forced to redirect the service back to Spain as the fight was a threat to the flight’s operation.

Following the landing at Tenerife South Airport, the Spanish police boarded the flight EZY3352 as per the crew’s request. In a statement released to the public, easyJet explained the return’s motive:

“A group of passengers behaving disruptively.”

The airline then reassured that any harassment towards the staff will not be tolerated and will be met with the appropriate consequences.

Air traffic control also disclosed that the crew requested that the police be present once the plane hit the ground, as this was a pressing matter.

The Arrests

The passengers involved in the brawl were reported to have been removed from the aircraft and escorted inside the airport to follow the procedures. It has been reported that the Spanish police did not make any arrests and that all those involved in the fight were British citizens.

After the perpetrators were removed, the easyJet flight departed for Liverpool, where it landed at around 2:20 a.m., 1 hour and 54 minutes after the scheduled arrival time.

It is unknown what happened to the involved British citizens following their exit from the service to Liverpool.
