Kenya-based 748 Air Services is set to re-enter the domestic passenger market in May 2026, marking a return to scheduled operations after a three-year hiatus focused on restructuring and humanitarian flying.

Domestic routes to restart under Fly748

The airline will relaunch scheduled services under its Fly748 brand, operating daily flights from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) to coastal destinations, including Mombasa and Ukunda, which serves the Diani Beach area. Services will be operated using De Havilland Canada Dash 8 Q400 aircraft.

The return to these routes places the airline back into direct competition on some of Kenya’s busiest domestic corridors, where demand is largely driven by tourism and business travel.

Return follows a three-year pause

748 Air Services suspended scheduled passenger operations on March 1, 2023, to prioritise humanitarian missions, which had been the core focus of its business. Before the suspension, the airline served multiple domestic destinations, including Malindi, Kisumu, and the Maasai Mara.

The carrier states that its return follows internal restructuring aimed at improving operational efficiency, safety compliance, and customer service, in coordination with the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority. It also holds Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) Gold Status, awarded by the Flight Safety Foundation.

The resumption of scheduled operations marks a shift back towards commercial passenger services for 748 Air Services, adding capacity on key domestic routes. Its re-entry is likely to increase competition, particularly on coastal routes, as Kenya’s aviation market continues to recover.
