LOT Polish Airlines has launched a new route between Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) and Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ), expanding its footprint in Italy. The service, which began on 31 March, will operate six times weekly from Warsaw Chopin Airport to Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport.

Demand Drives Expansion
Flights depart WAW at 8:35 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (LO327), and at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays (LO329). Return services from BLQ operate at 11:45 a.m. and in the early evening on select days. Flight time is approximately 2 hours 10 minutes.
LOT Polish Airlines‘ new route reflects growing demand among Polish travellers for Italian destinations, particularly the Emilia-Romagna region.
Bologna joins existing routes to Milan, Rome and Venice, marking the airline’s fourth Italian destination from WAW. Regional officials also pointed to rising tourism flows.
“In 2025, the number of tourists from Poland visiting Emilia-Romagna increased by over 20%, and Poland now ranks among the leading foreign markets in terms of growth dynamics as well as the number of tourists and overnight stays.” said Roberta Frisoni, regional councillor for tourism, noting continued growth is expected.

Connectivity and Regional Impact
Airport officials say the new link strengthens ties between Poland and northern Italy while enhancing onward connectivity.
“The launch of the new Bologna-Warsaw flight with LOT Polish Airlines is particularly important for our region and catchment area. Not only does it strengthen connections between our region and the Polish capital, but it also allows our passengers to access the Polish national airline’s entire network, with over 120 destinations in Europe, Asia, and North America,” said Nazareno Ventola, CEO of Bologna Airport.
The addition also introduces a new airline to BLQ, further diversifying its carrier mix and supporting inbound travel from Central and Eastern Europe.
