Delta Airlines just announced they are making Boston it’s newest hub. Boston was formally a focus city for many years before the expansion. Delta’s current hubs are Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, LAX, Minneapolis, New York’s JFK & LGA, Salt Lake City, & Seattle

Delta has been expanding in Boston for quite some time now, ” We’ve been making significant investments in Boston this year… this has really enabled us to graduate Boston from what we consider a focus city to our newest coastal hub” Amy Martin said. Delta is currently making a run against JetBlue, Boston’s largest airline which is currently expanding to offer 200 daily departures from Logan. Delta announced their plans to offer up to 150 daily departures from Boston starting in March of 2020. That will give Delta a 25% increase from 2019.

Delta recently just added new international routes for the summer season which include Edinburgh Scotland,Lisbon Portugal and more to come in the near future including new service to London Gatwick. They also currently offer flights to London, Paris, and Amsterdam.  The airline also announced an addition of new destinations as well as expansion routes which include Miami, Sarasota, Punta Cana, Orlando, Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale, & West Palm Beach. With all the new routes out of Boston Delta is becoming a big contender in the Northeast market. They’ve doubled their daily departures from 2013.

Amid all the expansion Delta is in need of more gates to handle all of the daily departures from Boston in the coming months. The airline plans to operate out of all of terminal A in Boston which holds 22 gates in total. International flights will arrive into the international terminal E.

Delta also has code share agreements with KLM, Korean air, Virgin Atlantic, Alitalia, and Air France. This allows them to get their customers to a major amount of cities around Europe,Asia, and the rest of the world.
