Throughout the months of June, July, and August, Jet2holidays will be offering free seats for a select number of children on board flights.
Thousands of free seats will be available at 10 different UK bases this summer as a result.
Free flights galore
British package holiday provider Jet2holidays announced on Friday that every fight from then on through to the end of August will have a free seat on board exclusively for a child travelling for a holiday.
The exciting offer is available on Jet2 flights, stylised as Jet2.com, only but they are first come, first serve. The offer also only applies to a child travelling with two adults who both paid full price for their tickets on the plane.
Jet2holidays is Jet2’s sister company and, as of 2018, became the second-largest tour operator in the UK. The successful travel company clearly knows its stuff, and so launched the campaign as an attempt to attract more families to travel for their holidays with Jet2.

The CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Steve Heapy commented on the company’s latest family-orientated campaign:
“We want our independent travel agency partners to be at the heart of our summer plans this year, which is why we are telling them all about this fantastic new campaign. This is our biggest ever giveaway of Free Child Places and although there are thousands of places available, we know that they will be enormously popular with families and family groups looking to get away so people will need to act quick to secure one. With more seats on sale than ever this summer, we are already looking ahead to a busy and successful summer, and this campaign will only help us deliver that.”
Jet2.com is looking to make a profit on the basis of this family-orientated campaign as, interestingly, the carrier is not experiencing the same issues as other European carriers.
Flying high
Demand for air travel peaked significantly a couple of months ago and airlines and airports across Europe struggled to cope with the surge, leading to frustrating cancellations and hours-long queues that, in some cases, expended outside of the airport. Whilst there are many reasons for the disruption, one being a possible overbooking of flights, the main cause has been staff shortages.
But Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have not suffered the same dilemma as most airlines. And Jet2.com sees an opportunity in that fact and is looking to positively capitalise on it as much as possible.
In Jet2.com’s press release of their latest campaign, the Yeadon-based carrier proudly but briefly shed light on its unique predicament:
“Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have not cancelled any flights due to staff shortages and have continued to receive positive feedback from customers and independent travel agents.”
The UK carrier considered their success amid the heavy demand for air travel in the fact that they were able to prevent staff shortages by recruiting early before the inevitable increase in passengers:
“Jet2.com and Jet2holidays took action to recruit well ahead of the bounce back and as such have thousands of dedicated colleagues, including a very visible uniformed presence (referred to as the Red Team) in UK airports as well as in main overseas airports and in resorts. This team have been working tirelessly to make sure customers get to enjoy their well-deserved holidays.”
The carrier prepared for 2022 accordingly and is now reaping the benefits. It can now use its advantage to focus on getting ahead of its direct competition (EasyJet and British Airways) as undoubtedly the favourite airline out of the two from the perspective of travellers as, regardless of legitimate excuses, flight cancellations and delays are massively jarring. Low cancellation rates almost guarantee a smooth travel experience, helping Jet2.com retain its current customers and attract a host of new ones.
The summer season is looking positively bright for Jet2holidays and Jet2.com. Jet2holidays predicts a successful summer season ahead whereby they are able to lock down their segment of the leisure travel market even further by targeting families looking to get away for a week or two.
