Two Delta regional flights operated by the airline’s subsidiary Endeavor Air, collided on the taxiway on Wednesday, October 1, in New York at LaGuardia airport, according to media reports. The incident occurred at around 10 p.m. Eastern Time.

Aircraft involved in the accident are reported as Flight 5155 and Flight 5047. Both these aircraft are the CRJ-900 model.

How it happened

Reports say that the wing of flight 5155, which was departing to Roanoke, Virginia, collided with the nose and cockpit of flight 5047, which arrived at LaGuardia from Charlotte, North Carolina.

The accident happened while both jets were in the taxiway. One of the flight attendants on board had a knee injury and was taken to the hospital.

Apart from the flight crew from both flights, there were 57 and 28 passengers on flights 5047 and 5155, respectively. No passenger injuries were reported in this low-collision incident.

The airport authorities also clarified that the normal services of the LaGuardia airport were not impacted because of this collision, and the airport is running as usual.

As an immediate response, the passengers were transferred to the terminals by the buses.

Media statement from Delta Air Lines

Delta issued an apology statement through its website. It stated:

“Delta teams at our New York‑LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low‑speed collision during taxi. The safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize for the experience.”

The reason for this collision is unknown, and the FAA will investigate the matter further, as per media reports.
