Spirit Airlines Donates Over $1.5 Million To Charity At Annual Spirit Open Golf Tournament

At its sixth annual Spirit Open last week, the Spirit Charitable Foundation “kept it on the short grass,” raising more than $1.5 million for nonprofit organisations across Spirit Airlines‘ developing organisation. More than 200 Spirit Team Members, professionals from the aviation industry, and community leaders gathered to recognise the extraordinary generosity that supports the Foundation’s mission.

The Spirit Open Event

NexGen Aero hosted the 2023 event, with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney serving as Partner Sponsors. 150 additional generous and civic-minded sponsors were also present at the event. The social and networking event known as the “Carousel of Giving” took place at the brand-new Carousel Club in Hallandale Beach to kick off the two-day celebration. While enjoying a wide range of speciality foods, beverages, a live DJ, an impressive silent auction, and other activities, high-ranking executives from the industry mixed and mingled. Donors played a fun round of golf at the Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation the following day.

The Foundation invests in nonprofits supporting its three pillars in the US, LA, and the Caribbean, offering support to military troops, families with children, and the environment. The Foundation also continues to support short-term community needs and long-term commitments, such as storm relief efforts in Florida and Puerto Rico in the prior year.

Stated Lania Rittenhouse, Vice President of Guest Experience, Brand, and Communications for Spirit Airlines and president of the Spirit Charity Foundation:

“We’re so grateful and impressed by the continued commitment of our supporters whose generous gifts advance our mission to inspire positive change in the communities where we live and work,”

He also added

“The Spirit Charitable Foundation gives back to organizations making meaningful impacts across our network, including supporting a total of 51 nonprofits in 2022. The funds raised this year will empower us to extend our impact even further.”
