A Severstal Canadair CRJ-200, registration RA-67240 performing flight D2-131 from Cherepovets (Russia) to Simferopol (Ukraine), was on approach to Simferopol when the crew aborted the descent at about 3000 feet and climbed back to FL050 due to a problem with the nose gear. The crew subsequently decided to perform a low approach to runway 19 to have the gear checked from the ground and landed safely on runway 19 about 35 minutes after the first aborted approach.
The aircraft remained on the ground for about 6 hours, then positioned back to Cherepovets.
Rosaviatsia reported the crew reported a problem with the nose gear, went around, performed a low approach and landed safely.
The status of Crimea and Simferopol is disputed. According to international law and the United Nations, the Crimea belong to Ukraine although Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.
