Lufthansa has revealed that they will use Airbus A380s to fly to Denver. Travellers have the choice between the hustle and bustle of the city or the mountainous peaks surrounding it. Nonetheless, these options can be explored on the 30th of April, when flights first begin.
There will be daily flights from München all the way to the airport at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. A380s will depart for Denver at 11:15 am, and land there at 1:45 pm local time. Then, the return flight will depart at 4:15 pm local, and land back at Munich for 10:50 am the following day.
Heiko Ritz, CCO of Lufthansa Airlines, said:
“The Airbus A380 service to Denver is not only a first for Lufthansa, but also for the airport itself. It is the first time that a scheduled flight with an aircraft of this size will land there. Passengers, airport visitors and crews love the A380, the flying experience and the feeling of space. At the same time, the A380 offers more premium seats than any other aircraft.”
So what’s with the massive fuss for the Airbus A380?
New Airbus A380s
The A380 is a four-engine double-decker plane, and is the current largest operating commercial aircraft.
There will be eight Airbus A380s based in Lufthansa’s Munich hub this summer. Their destinations will be all-American, including New York (JFK), Washington, Los Angeles, and Denver.
Lufthansa’s A380s will have 509 available seats. These are divided into 371 Economy seats, 52 seats in Premium Economy, 78 seats in Business Class, and just eight in First Class.
Lufthansa has been flying non-stop between Munich and Denver for nine years, and from Frankfurt to Denver for 25 years. This summer, two daily flights from both Munich and Frankfurt will take flight for Colorado, using the A380s. That means over 1000 passengers can fly from Munich to Denver daily.
From Munich to Denver
Denver promises an attractive destination to German travellers. The North American city offers a platter of activities within the Rocky Mountains, for sports and nature enthusiasts.
Star Alliance member United Airlines also enables Lufthansa to use Denver as a hub. Therefore, European passengers have 170 more destinations available to them when landing in Denver. These include other American cities, such as Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Honolulu.
The switch to A380s marks just one of many milestones Lufthansa have projected, another example being the goal to hire 10,000 new employees this year.
