Direct Access to Europe’s Top Ski Resorts

With winter sports now in full swing, the airport says the expanded capacity is designed to meet strong demand from both families planning longer breaks and travellers seeking quick weekend getaways.

Passengers flying from London Stansted can reach major Alpine gateways including Geneva, Chambery, Grenoble, Turin and Zurich, placing world-famous resorts such as Chamonix, Courchevel, Verbier, Serre Chevalier and Sestriere within easy reach.

Airlines operating these routes include Ryanair, Jet2.com, easyJet, British Airways, Swiss and TUI, providing a wide choice of departure times and price points throughout the winter season. Popular Austrian hubs such as Salzburg and Innsbruck, as well as Italian cities including Verona and Milan, further strengthen Stansted’s winter offering.

Beyond the Alps: New and Alternative Destinations

While the Alps remain a firm favourite, Stansted is also promoting access to lesser-known ski regions across Europe and beyond. Flights are available to destinations supporting winter sports in Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Slovakia and Finland, as well as to Spain’s Sierra Nevada and even the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.

For travellers seeking something different, routes to Sofia, Bucharest, Krakow, Bratislava and Rovaniemi open the door to emerging ski markets that often offer quieter slopes and more affordable packages. Connections via Barcelona, Toulouse and Girona also provide access to Andorra’s Pyrenean resorts.

Flexible Options for Winter Travellers

Lauren MacCarron, Travel Trade Manager at London Stansted, said the breadth of destinations and airlines ensures flexibility for all types of travellers. She noted that passengers can easily plan family holidays, extended stays or spontaneous trips, thanks to the range of direct services and alternative resort options available from the airport.

With strong airline support and growing interest in winter travel, Stansted expects ski demand to remain high throughout the season, reinforcing its position as a key UK gateway for winter sports enthusiasts.
