Korean Air, the national airline for South Korea, has partnered with SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) to launch ‘Rail & Fly’, a new program starting in August 2025 which will allow Korean Air passengers flying from Seoul-Incheon Airport (ICN) to transfer between Zurich Airport and major Swiss cities such as Geneva, Basel and Bern, among others.

Connecting Seoul with Switzerland

The new service will allow Korean Air passengers to purchase combined flight and train tickets via the airline’s website or via their travel agency. The tickets permit travel from Zurich Airport to Geneva, Basel, Bern, Lausanne, Interlaken and St. Gallen. Passengers will be able to use the train service on the day of their arrival or the following day, as well as on the day of their departure from Zurich, or the previous day. Train tickets are issued up to 72 hours before flight departures via the SBB check-in page, with a CHF 5 (£4.60) fee applying for each seat reservation. Passengers can consult Korean Air’s website for more information and the terms and conditions of the scheme.

Korean Air also operates a ‘Rail & Fly’ service for passengers travelling from Seoul’s Incheon Airport to Frankfurt, where passengers can connect to Deutsche Bahn services to other major German cities. Passengers on Incheon-Amsterdam services can also take advantage of high-speed Eurostar services departing from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport station, as well as those departing from the Belgian cities of Brussels and Antwerp.

Korean Air Strengthening its Presence in Switzerland

The newly unveiled ‘Rail & Fly’ service is just one of the ways in which Seoul Air is trying to establish itself in the Swiss market. It recently reopened its office in Zurich, and now operates flights three times a week from Zurich Airport (ZRH) to Seoul-Incheon, which depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Korean Air serves 10 domestic destinations and 150 international destinations across 50 countries. It is also a member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance and has a joint venture with Delta Air Lines, which has been upheld since 2018 and increases the total number of available destinations for its passengers to more than 280.
