About the celebration

In order to commemorate the anniversary, the airline offered a free round-trip ticket from Washington D.C. to Seoul Incheon to the 30th passenger who was checking in for flight KE094.

In addition, every passenger on the flight received special anniversary gifts, including limited-edition travel pouches.

History of the route between Seoul and Washington, D.C.

The Korean airline started its service to fly between Seoul and Washington in July 1995, in order to build a good connection between two important capitals, especially to enhance connections in politics, diplomacy and business.

The service used to operate as a one-stop service with a stopover in New York. In 1999, the route became a nonstop service.

The airline has been the only Korean carrier which operates a daily nonstop flight between Seoul Incheon and Washington, D.C. since 2008. With the connectivity to the East Coast of the US, the route served during multiple remarkable diplomatic events, including Korea-U.S. summits and high-level negotiations.

The carrier’s Senior Vice President and Head of Americas Regional Headquarters Jin Ho Lee said:

“Washington D.C., together with New York and Los Angeles, is one of the key pillars of our U.S. network, serving as a vital hub for premium, diplomatic and business travel. We remain committed to delivering world-class services for our customers.”
