Hunnu Air Fleet and Routes Expansion

Currently, the airline employs four of the Brazilian Embraer aircrafts, E190s and Embraer 195-E2. Hunnu Air used to operate with two A319-100s between the years of 2012 and 2014. The routes in which Hunnu Air already operates fly domestically, to Beijing, Manzhouli, and Hailar, all Chinese destinations. It also flies to Almaty, Kazakhstan, as well as charter flights to the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, and New Delhi, India.

The desire for Hunnu Air fleet expansion with Embraer jets is due to plans to schedule flights to New Delhi, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and the Middle East. These new routes developments would increase the number of flyers, and positively impact the tourism in South and Central Asia.

Hunnu Air has already increased its presence in Mongolia’s global market. The carrier went from 5% of shares, to more than double, 12%, according to Vice President Turbold Tserenkhuu. However, the majority of airlines present in the market are international.

Expansion’s Impact on Mongolia’s Tourism

Through the leasing of new aircrafts, Hunnu Air will allow more tourist to navigate within Central and South Asia, and, possibly, the Middle East. Regarding Mongolia, the demand for tourism has been noted. In 2025, the tourism industry grew 5% in contrast to 2024, reaching 800,00 visitors.

These new destinations will be connected to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital, also remove the necessity for layovers and connecting flights. It’ll make Mongolia an easier place to visit. By making the access easier with the leasing of new Embraer aircrafts, Mongolia may become a more attractive holiday destination.

Besides the leasing of Embraer jets, Hunnu Air is also receiving four new aircrafts in 2026, from the North American manufacturer Cessna. They are expecting two Cessna 408, as well as two Cessna (single turboprop) C208EX Grand Caravans.
