Avianca has released a statement announcing that they will resume their operations between Bogota, Colombia and Caracas, Venezuela on the 12th of February 2026. The flights are non-stop, and are less than 2 hours long.

Reactivation of the Route

In a statement released to Travel Radar, Avianca said that their decision to reactivate the route was done after an “assessment of operational and aviation safety conditions conducted in coordination with the appropriate authorities”.

The airline had ceased flights to Caracas in 2017. At the same time, several other carriers also suspended their activities to Venezuela, such as LATAM, United Airlines, and Air Canada.

American Airlines has also resumed flights to Caracas in late January 2026, having stopped the route in 2019. It is unknown when the operations will begin and which aircraft will be used.

Impact of Route Reopening

The return of the daily flights between Bogota and Caracas is important for connectivity within South American countries and airports. By resuming operations to Venezuela, Avianca aims to improve the links between South America’s hubs.

This connection will make travellers’ plannings much easier. Avianca is one of the biggest operating carriers in Latin America, transporting passengers through the main airports of the region. Having the daily flights resumed will facilitate the journey between Caracas and Bogota.

Avianca has operated in Venezuela for six decades before the suspension. In their statement, the carrier makes it clear the goal to continue strengthening the local connectivity between the countries, and support the growth of trade and tourism.
