Following the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the Colombian region on Aug. 10, 2026, Abra Group launched a humanitarian air bridge over the weekend to transport more than 40 tons of essential aid to affected communities. The joint operation by GOLLOG and Avianca Cargo transported critical supplies donated by organisations and government agencies across Colombia.
Humanitarian Aid Reaches Affected Communities
Two cargo flights using a Boeing 737 from São Paulo arrived in Armenia, Colombia carrying contributions from the Colombian Association of Food Banks (ABACO), the TAAP Foundation, the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, and the National Army of Colombia. The cargo included hygiene products, food, water, medical supplies, mattresses, pet food, and other essential items.

Historic First for El Edén
This operation demonstrates not only the capability of GOLLOG and Avianca Cargo in expanding the reach of humanitarian aid but also a milestone for connectivity and emergency response in the region. It was the first time a Boeing 737 freighter landed at El Edén International Airport (AXM), showcasing the terminal’s capacity to handle large-scale cargo operations when communities need them the most.
According to Gabriel Oliva, president of Avianca, the airline has already transported over 300 tons of aid. He reaffirmed that the carriers will continue to combine their resources and efforts to keep supporting affected communities, as they did previously through their new mileage donation campaign launched to support Venezuelan communities after earthquakes
