A Frontier Airlines passenger was accused and taken into custody after allegedly threatening to kill the passenger seated next to him. He also declared that he had a bomb on board the flight.

What happened on Frontier Airlines flight 2539?

Frontier Airlines Flight 2539, an Airbus A320, departed Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday, March 29, around 2:30 p.m. local time. This is the short-duration flight to Atlanta.

The aircraft made an emergency landing at Atlanta and was redirected into a remote area of the runway after the control tower received the message from the pilot.

The pilot said that,

“He’s in his seat. He is starting to threaten to kill the lady who’s sitting next to him, and he is saying that he has a bomb on board.”

The threat prompted the pilot to issue a level four security alert, indicating that the crew were concerned about a breach of the cockpit. After landing, passengers were safely removed from the flight.

Hoax threat by the unruly passenger

The Atlanta Police Department confirmed that the bomb threat by the passenger was a hoax, and he is not a legitimate hijacker. This case has been handed over to the FBI.

One of the flight passengers, Keyaira Smith, said:

“He kept standing. The pilot told him, flight attendants, to sit down. He said that he was going to threaten or kill the flight attendants.”

Keyaira added that the passenger had been acting in an unstable manner before boarding the flight. The identity of the unruly passenger is not yet known, and it is also not clear what charges he will face.
