On the 6th June at 5pm GMT, the LAX/Metro Transit Centre was unveiled. The centre is offering free fares across the Metro system from 4am Friday June 6th to 3am on Monday 9th June. The LAX Metro Transit Centre is located near Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street in the Westchester neighbourhood.

Here is what you need to know about LAX’s new shuttle system
The LAX/Metro Transit Centre directly connects LAX to Metro’s C and K lines, for a smoother and easier journey for passengers.
The new service includes a shuttle available to run passengers every ten minutes between the LAX/Metro Transit Centre and all LAX terminals. All shuttles will drop off and board passengers at the lower level of each terminal.

What to know before using the new Metro service
- Bring your luggage on the Metro, there will be a shuttle every ten minutes!
- You can pay for your ticket with either a TAP card, Apple Pay or cash.
- You can purchase a TAP card at the station, and reload this card for your journey home. It also is ready to download as an app! Remember to add your TAP card to your Apple Wallet/ phone wallet to ensure you have the card handy to ride the Metro.

Metro shuttle fares
A regular shuttle ride costs $1.75. There are cheaper options for K-12 students, and those at Community College to ride for free if your school belongs to GoPass. Passengers aged 62+, those on Medicare, and customers with disabilities can enjoy up to 80% off regular Metro fares, with fees of 75¢ during peak times, and 35¢ off-peak. Children 6 and under travel free with a fare paying adult. Those on Low Income (LIFE) can access twenty free rides a month.
An advantage of buying a TAP card means you are allowed two hours of free transfers to other Metro lines with each paid ride on a TAP card. However, exiting and then re-entering a station will charge your card as a new ride, so be sure to watch for that.
