The Trade Show 2026, on April 8, bringing together over 1,200 professionals in the travel and aviation industries, was hosted by the Dominican Republic in Miami, Florida, for the fourth time.

The Event at a Glance
The purpose of the event was to showcase the Dominican Republic’s growing travel industry portfolio, and how it is planning on utilising its niche offerings to attract growing amounts of tourists with the help of increasing air travel. Wanting to expand on luxury travel, cultural experiences, medical tourism, sports tourism, and cruises, the event provided the Dominican Republic the opportunity to connect with leading industry professionals and strengthen relationships with key players.
“Trade Show 2026 demonstrated that the Dominican Republic not only leads in visitor arrivals but also in its ability to generate real business opportunities and sustainable development across the entire tourism value chain,” said the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, David Collado.
The event facilitated the gathering of various aviation and travel industry professionals from both the North and South American regions. These leading industry players, various airlines, travel agencies, cruise line operators, and tourist tour operators in particular, were amongst the expansive list of attendees.

The Demands of the Growing Aviation Industry
One of the priorities of the event was to highlight how the country is heading towards growth on an international scale, and how it finds air travel a key player in connecting the country to the rest of the world. Various airlines, airports, and companies from different points in the travel chain, from both public and private sectors, were key supporters of the event’s program.
The event wanted to emphasise the versatility that the country has to offer, and prioritise expansion in destinations that have not been major tourism hubs for the country in the past. In destinations that the country are prioritising growth in, such as Miches, Santiago, La Romana, and La Vega, expansions and developments are already underway. These areas are being developed to include notable players that are well-known and connected to hotspot destinations around the world, such as the luxury resort brand, the Four Seasons Hotel and Resort, furthermore putting the country on the map and increasing its international air travel ties.
