Day Two of Farnborough Airshow saw lots of action! Here is our review of the days events.
Jet Airways has placed an order for 75 Boeing 737 MAX 8s.
The deal, worth $8.8 billion at list prices, was previously listed as an unidentified order.
This is the third time the airline has placed an order for the type, taking their order book to 225.
Jet Airways received their first 737 MAX 8 in June and has reportedly been incredibly happy with the type. Performance and operational efficiency has been right on spec, and in some cases, has been exceeding expectations.
Volga-Dnepr and CargoLogic have agreed to take five Boeing 747-8 Freighters and have committed to 29 777 Freighters.
The deal was signed by the two companies during the beginning of day two at the Farnborough Air Show.
In addition, Volga Dnepr is also in talks with Boeing about further orders for new and converted 767Fs and converted 737Fs.
CargoLogic intends to firm the 777F deal once all documentation is complete and they’re happy with the aircraft.
In the meantime, the 747-8F deal is worth $2 billion at list prices and the 777F deal is worth $9.8 billion at list prices. It is said the cargo airline received healthy discounts due to their relationship with Boeing.
An undisclosed customer has placed an order for eight Airbus A350-900s during the opening of day two at the Farnborough Air Show.
Information is limited about this order. No delivery date has been provided and the region of the order is unknown.
With the A350-900 having a list price of $317.4 million, the deal is worth over $2.5 billion providing they didn’t offer discounts.
Airbus now has 882 firm orders for the A350 family. Airlines and passengers praise the aircraft for it’s excellent operating performance and comfort.
Airbus has brought in a collection of new and confirmed orders for the A320neo family.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed earlier by an unidentified customer for 100 A320 family aircraft, consisting of 25 A320neos and 75 A321neos.
Airbus notes that this deal is for an existing customer of the type.
At list prices, this deal is expected to be worth $11.5 billion dollars, however since the customer is not new, it’s likely they received a discount.
No engine selection was made.
The second order/adjustment comes from low-cost carrier Peach Aviation. Peach has converted their order for 10 A320neos to eight A320neos and two A321LRs.
This will make the airline the first to operate the A321LR in Asia.
Deliveries are scheduled for 2020. No engine selection has been made.
LEVEL will receive its two additional Airbus A330-200s in 2019.
During the Farnborough Air Show, IAG and Airbus announced that their order for the aircraft, which was made in June, has been firmed.
This now takes LEVELs fleet of A330s to seven.
LEVEL also has three A321s in service with one on order. Discussions are currently in place as to whether they’ll aquire more of them.
Singapore Airlines has been awarded ‘World’s Best Airline 2018’ by Skytrax!
In addition, the airline has also come first place in the ‘World’s Best First Class’, ‘Best Airline in Asia’ and ‘Best First Class Seat’ of 2018.
The awards are chosen based on passenger and guest feedback through surveys. 20 million people were up to the task of rating 335 airlines between August 2017 and May 2018.
This is the fourth time the airline has been awarded the title.
Consistency is what brought the airline here. Passengers traveling with them multiple times reported that each time it was the exact same excellent product and service.
With airlines becoming more and more competitive each year by offering unique products and excellent service, it’s understandable why Singapore Airlines is so proud of this achievement.
