Textron Aviation has named Omani and Jeanie Carson the inaugural departure day Dove 1 for the 2026 Special Olympics Airlift. The Carsons will donate their aircraft and crew to lead the athletes back home after the week-long games.

Special Olympics Airlift
The Special Olympics Airlift is a massive volunteer-driven initiative organised by Textron Aviation to transport athletes and coaches to the Special Olympics USA Games. It uses volunteer pilots flying Cessna, Beechcraft, and Hawker aircraft (known as “Doves”) to provide free, round-trip transportation to the games.
This operation has been active since 1987 and has transported over 10,000 athletes and coaches in its history. The airlift ensures athletes arrive safely, welcomed, and celebrated, creating a unique and supportive experience for the participants.
The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games are scheduled for June 19-27, 2026, across Minnesota’s Twin Cities. The Carsons will donate their aircraft and crew to lead athletes home at the conclusion of the games. This is the first year that this honorary departure day distinction has been established.

Departure Day Dove 1
“Departure Day Dove 1” refers to the lead aircraft and crew chosen to kick off the return journey for athletes at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. The Carsons join more than 100 volunteer Beechcraft, Cessna and Hawker owners/operators who have donated their aircraft, crew and fuel for transportation.
Omani Carson, founder and chairman of Carson Group, stated:
“Witnessing their determination and joy throughout the Games inspires us all. Being part of their journey home is a privilege and we hope our involvement encourages others to join this incredible mission in the future and make a lasting impact.”
Textron Aviation has thanked all aircraft owners and operators who have stepped forward as Doves. Without their donations and commitment, the 2026 Airlift would not be possible.
